Notes:  The Benjamin Shelton here is our Benjamin Sheldon.  His wife and children were still behind in Edgar Co., Illinois while he arrived in Texas ahead to arrange a home.  They eventually joined him and it was near here, in Helena, Karnes County, Texas, that Benjamin was shot and killed in 1859.
